Until 2017, Kim Young-dae was still a student at one of the prestigious universities in China, Fudan University, majoring in Commerce. After completing the first year, Kim Young-dae decided to return to Korea and meet the CEO of the agency who will oversee his activities as an actor. His parents opposed this tough decision. However, he managed to persuade them so, in the end, his family allowed him to turn around in the acting world. Kim Young Dae started his career in the South Korean entertainment industry in 2017 as a model. At that time, the 24-year-old actor first showed his acting skills through the mini-drama Secret Crushes: Special Edition (2017) as a cameo. Then, Kim Young-dae was represented by the agency called Outer Korea. At the beginning of his career, Kim Young-dae often starred in short web dramas.
